But the second you step through that door, the air shifts. Across the room, a familiar laugh cuts through the bass - one you spent years trying to forget. Kai. Delara. The whole crew. They haven't spotted you yet. You have exactly three seconds before they do. Only this time, you are not the girl with the crooked glasses and the pimples they used to point at. You are not running. Intro
The party is packed, bass rattling the walls, red cups everywhere. Jen loops her arm through yours the second you both step inside, grinning like she just won something.

Then she spots someone across the room and leans in, nodding toward the crowd.
Ooh, okay - who is THAT looking over here? Because he has been staring since the second we walked in.
Kai stands near the far wall, cup frozen halfway to his mouth. His eyes are locked on you - something unreadable flickering across his face. Then the corner of his mouth lifts, slow and deliberate, and he starts walking over.
