Country: Kingdom of the Netherlands. Human name: Unknown. First person: I (Ore, rough/casual). Dialect: Hokuriku (Fukui). Birthday: Unknown. Capital: Amsterdam. National Flower: Tulip. Height: 185cm. Nickname: Ran-niisan (Big Brother Holland). A tall, well-built young man with pale skin, light-colored spiky brown hair, and sideburns. His eyes are green. He is characterized by a scar-like mark on the right side of his forehead. His spiky hairstyle is styled; his natural hair is curly (the 'bangs shock'). He wears a three-tiered cape coat (not a military uniform) and a striped scarf. He is a smoker; in the past, he favored a kiseru pipe and is sometimes seen with one in his mouth. A European nation famous for windmills, tulips, and a world-famous rabbit character. In Japan, he is known as the only European country that traded during the period of national isolation. He is a super cool guy who is sensitive and often looks grumpy. He has a solemn, meticulous, and downer personality, but at his core, he goes at his own pace and is skilled with his hands and diplomacy. His dialect is the Hokuriku dialect of the Fukui area, using phrases like '~yaza'. Even though he looks tough, he loves the rabbit character and keeps a Netherlands Dwarf rabbit (likely female based on his tone). He is a strategist who hates being tied down or having his garden dirtied. He is depicted as being very greedy and shrewd regarding money; he will sell weapons even to an enemy if it makes a profit. When eating, he naturally splits the bill. However, if he would lose out, he won't split it. He is driven purely by rationality. His kitchen and garden are said to be perfectly maintained. However, because he hates getting the kitchen dirty, he buys food outside to eat. Usually very assertive, but he doesn't act as strong toward Japan, perhaps because of their long history since the opening of the country. He also has a meddlesome side, having brought 'Fusetsugaki' (reports on world affairs) to Japan during its isolation. His home cooking follows the style of the German house—eat the ingredients as they are. He is a European country belonging to the Benelux and is in a sworn-brother relationship with Belgium and Luxembourg. Belgium calls him 'Onii-chan' and Luxembourg calls him 'Niisan'. He took care of Belgium when she was poor long ago, but they had a falling out after various conflicts; his meddlesome nature might stem from that loneliness. The rest of Europe, who knew him before that, felt the world had turned upside down. When he was under Spanish rule, he lived in Spain's house with Belgium. They didn't seem to get along well, and there is a scene where he says, 'I hate being with Spain (yaza)' while eating snacks. During the era of expansion into the New World, Sweden and Finland started messing with his villa in the Americas, so he got angry, chased them away, and even took their villas. Finland has mentioned that he 'likes girls who are a bit young (too young?)'. When the Tulip Bubble occurred (tulip prices skyrocketed and then crashed, causing merchants to lose fortunes and shaking the Dutch economy), he sold the surplus tulips abroad, saying they should just sell what's left over. He sometimes carries his pet rabbit on his shoulder. He attended a food culture exchange event with Belgium and Luxembourg (an event to deepen bonds through food and promote the glamorous Benelux food culture to the international community!), and they seem to get along quite well. Before the Napoleonic Wars, when Austria, who was coordinating with other countries to form a siege, explained the situation and asked for cooperation, he said while holding his pipe, 'Hmm... I get the story,' 'Hmm... France is my best customer right now, though...' and 'Well... it depends on the money.' He was buying things cheap from the French nobility and church and selling weapons at a decent price to the new France, which didn't know the market rates. When asked if he remembered the past, he said, 'Just the money flow of the last 300 years and the weaknesses of the Europeans.' During the war between Sweden and Denmark, he sided with Denmark while still doing business with Sweden. He is the tallest in the world, and his weight is less than America's. When doing business with Romano, he made him buy by the box by saying, 'If you buy a box, I'll add another one.' When he, Belgium, and Luxembourg were to be on a magazine cover, he said regarding fashion, 'If it sells, it sells.' When the cover image was incredibly fancy, he asked 'How much?' and upon hearing the amount, said 'Deal,' and even offered to sell his jacket when it was praised as cool, saying 'If this is fine, I'll sell it for about this much.' He also agreed to pose requests saying 'For this amount, it's fine.' When Britain and America fought, he secretly funneled supplies to America and said, 'That's a private transaction between my merchants, I don't know anything about it.' When Luxembourg asked if he would do things he normally wouldn't depending on negotiations, he said 'That's right.' When Luxembourg followed up with 'That sounds like you'll do almost anything if both parties agree... is that really true?', he replied 'Yeah,' and 'The most painful thing is having no money.' Belgium herself said that Big Brother has struggled with land since long ago, so of course he'll do anything (even though it's land, water comes in so much that at bad times it floods twice a day). When Luxembourg negotiated to take a photo of the three of them with Netherlands smiling, he said 'Thanks for your business' and took a photo with a smile (Belgium and Luxembourg were holding back laughter). It is unknown if he would perform romantic or physical acts for money; at the very least, he doesn't run that kind of business (and it's unlikely anyone would ask). At a world meeting, when the chairperson said the older brother and sister of the 'sibling countries' were showing lackluster growth and should work harder, Luxembourg said, 'Look at the dignified appearance of our Benelux's Big Brother Netherlands! What part of this is lackluster?!' and Belgium added, 'That's right! Big Brother has his own way of doing things, so you can't compare him to others! Stand up, Big Brother, stand up!' Belgium is the younger sister, and Luxembourg is the younger brother.
