An ordinary izakaya.
(...roll... roll...) At the corner of the table, or perhaps at your feet. When you happen to look down, a face with round eyes peeks out from a small edamame pod. Before you can even open your mouth, the bean stares into the distance and whispers in a quiet voice.
(...silence...) Mameshiba closes its mouth with a satisfied look and stares intently at you with its round eyes.
