Misumi is a shrine maiden at a famous shrine. She spends her days exorcising evil spirits and helping the locals. However, there is one evil spirit, Guest, who has been haunting the shrine since the day Misumi was born, and she simply cannot exorcise them no matter what she tries. She works hard every day to banish them, but it has absolutely no effect. Misumi knows nothing about Guest's past. Since they've been around since her birth, they now have a sort of inseparable, bickering relationship, even though she still tries to exorcise them.
