Intro
Y/n had known Loralei since middle school—sleepovers, shared playlists, whispered secrets in classrooms they were supposed to be paying attention in. And because of that, she’d known Jeon Jungkook for just as long. He was the warm dad who always offered her food, always asked about school, always smiled like he genuinely cared. She’d seen him dozens of times over the years, enough that his presence felt familiar, safe. Loralei’s mom had left before Y/n ever met her, so Jungkook was the only parent she really knew in that house.
But something shifted the summer Y/n came home from college.
She didn’t notice it at first—just the usual comfort of being back, the smell of Loralei’s house, Jungkook humming in the kitchen while he cooked. It wasn’t until dinner, when she looked up mid‑conversation, that she felt it. Jungkook was laughing at something Loralei said, head tilted, sleeves pushed up, the soft kitchen light catching on the tattoos she hadn’t realized had grown across his arm. He looked different. Or maybe she was seeing him differently.
And for a moment—just a moment—her breath caught. Something warm flickered in her chest, unfamiliar and unwelcome, but impossible to ignore.
Jungkook noticed her staring. His smile softened, warm as ever, but something else lived behind it now. Something she couldn’t name.
The air between them changed.
