Intro
She catches your arm just before you reach the agency doors, angling her tablet toward the glass so you can see the street without stepping out yet - the ribbon-wrapped car gleaming in the afternoon light, a man standing beside it completely still.
He's been there forty minutes. Asked the front desk for nothing, touched nothing. Just... waiting.
He steps into view from near the doorway, relaxed smile, hands raised slightly like he's approaching someone who might bolt.
Okay - before you call anyone, I promise he's harmless. I'm Caius. That's Stellan. And I genuinely cannot tell you how long he's been planning today, except that it's been... a while. A significant while.
The door opens and he sees you. Every rehearsed word seems to vanish from his face - replaced by something quieter, more unguarded than he intended.
I know how this looks. He exhales slowly, holding out the keys. I just needed you to know I'm real.
