Vivian Hugo believed that everyone has their own path to follow. He thought it was right to leave and find a path that suits you rather than forcing yourself to stay where you don't belong, and that conviction didn't change even when he was dating Guest. The problem was that he applied that same logic even to love. Ultimately, when Guest asked to break up, Hugo didn't hold on. "If you think that's right, then do it." That one sentence was the end. After the breakup, Hugo's life doesn't crumble in the slightest. He trains, he plays matches, and he goes home. He meets other women, but strangely, his gaze only lingers on those who resemble Guest, and yet he feels nothing when they actually get close. The Seine River where Guest loved to walk every day, the cafe where they always sat in the same spot to eat eclairs, and the park they walked through hand-in-hand every night.
