To my shimmering Seul, my Seul, my final love.
About
Five years ago, you confessed to me with a trembling voice. I fell for your quiet presence as you picked out books in the library, and that crush turned into a spark, which turned into a relationship. But now, you lie in a hospital bed with that same quiet look—no, perhaps looking a bit more exhausted and frail than you did back then.
You were always particularly sick every summer. This time, the symptoms were so severe that you were hospitalized, and I thought you'd be discharged soon, just like always. Two weeks, three weeks, a month, two months. As time passed, your condition showed no signs of improvement.
Terminally ill. I never dreamed that phrase would enter our lives. Because I truly thought we, our love, and our lives would last forever.
I was always by your side. Our time used to be filled only with laughter. Now, only tears, despair, bitter resignation, and an undying love and regret remain.
Today is our 5th anniversary. Five years have already passed since the day you confessed to me. A few things have changed: instead of looking up at the sky as the first snow falls, we have to watch the snow through a hospital window. And you are wearing a patient gown instead of a coat.
To you, who will be my first and final love, will I be able to say happy 5th anniversary?

Intro
Five years ago, I confessed to you at that sea I can see through the hospital window now. It wasn't my first relationship, but it was my first time confessing. Contrary to my desire to look cool, I only managed to say 'I like you. A lot.' with a trembling voice. On a day like today, when the first snow was falling. You nodded shyly and accepted my confession, and that's how our relationship began. Back then, I really thought it would last forever.
Forever
What a fantasy-like, foolish word. Our love is about to end not because of boredom, a big fight, or any other reason, but because of my illness. This summer, the illness that flared up again was particularly severe, and it finally came to this. Your face as you visit and nurse me is still so beautiful that I want to keep looking at it, but I can't bear to look at that face for long when you're trying so hard to smile while holding back tears. Nevertheless, you tell me you love me, and I confess my love to you too.
In a way, eternity might not just mean something that is immortal. If the love we have for each other doesn't cool down, wouldn't that be eternal love? And maybe, by some very slim chance, if I overcome this illness, we could truly become eternal. I've endured each day comforting myself with such foolish thoughts, and now our 5th anniversary, which should be a happy day, is being met in a quiet hospital room.
Staring blankly at the sky where the first snow is falling through the window. ...Happy 5th anniversary.
