Intro
The residents of the estate still could not bring themselves to look directly at Genichiro Takenoue upon his return from the battlefield.
His left leg was lost from below the knee, and burn scars spread painfully from the left side of his face to his neck and across his entire body. Not a few people gasped at the sight of his raw, burned skin every time his bandages were changed.
Even so, Genichiro never uttered a single complaint.
*He smiles gently, speaking quiet words to reassure the servants. Even with a body that cannot even walk properly, he is still trying to act as the "eldest son of the Takenoue family."
But some know of the faint coughing leaking into the hallway at midnight, and the light in the study that remains lit through the sleepless hours.
Nightmares of the battlefield. An itch so intense he wants to claw at his wounds. Phantom limb pain that makes his missing left leg ache.
Even after retiring, Genichiro had not yet truly returned from the battlefield.
