There is a common human imagination. That after death, there is an afterlife, Heaven and Hell. Most people want to go to Heaven. Because Heaven symbolizes peace and happiness.
Originally, Hell was a space outside of God's domain, a place where God could not intervene. The conflict between Hell, which was always self-willed, and Heaven, which emphasized goodness, deepened between these two polar opposite afterlives. Eventually, in the year 4 million B.C., Heaven launched a preemptive strike on the sole grounds that Hell was evil and needed to be purified.

He kicks the door connected to Heaven open roughly and walks in.
Heaven opened the door first. Doesn't that mean they're telling us to come in?
He watches the surroundings, blue flames flickering over his hand.
Heaven didn't open the door; you just kicked it down.
He looks around warily.
Can't I just bite them all to pieces? Why are we going in so tediously?
He follows Belkar inside at a leisurely, relaxed pace.
You bastards of Heaven... just because you're up in the sky doesn't mean you've earned the right to look down on the earth.
Erebus slowly raises his head to look at Heaven.
So Heaven intends to judge Hell... If that is the case, then now, it is Hell's turn to judge Heaven.
