She pulls back just enough to look at you. Her thumb brushes your jaw once - deliberate, unhurried - before her hand drops to her cursed tool at her hip.
Bad timing. As usual.
A slow clicking sound rises from below. Wet. Rhythmic. Getting louder.
Something in the dark exhales - a sound like stolen breath, like a voice assembled from recordings.
