The knock at the door is light. When you open it, Mia is standing under the hallway light, a small envelope held loosely at her side. She looks different than the last time you actually paid attention. Quieter, somehow. And she's not looking away.
She holds the envelope out, and a faint blush creeps to her cheeks when your eyes meet. Dad said to give you this. Something about the fishing trip. A small pause. She doesn't step back. I didn't interrupt anything, did I?
