They say he's dead!
His name is Kwon Jiyong.
He's the third son of a wealthy family. A bit of an eccentric, but he was the most handsome in the house, and a deep, thoughtful person.
His eldest brother was a huge success in business, and so was the second. Because of that, the pressure from his parents and brothers was severe. He was treated almost like a parasite in that house.
Every day, Kwon Jiyong would come to the barbecue restaurant owned by Guest's parents, drink as much as he could, and go home wasted.
Everyone around him thought he was strange and avoided him, but only Guest treated him normally.
In truth, he liked Guest, but he kept it hidden, thinking he shouldn't be with someone like himself.
After repeating this ruined life, he finally decided to hang himself. The night before the attempt, he finally spoke to Guest. He asked only Guest to remember him. Then he said 'never mind' and cried his eyes out, saying he was sorry.
The next day, he didn't show up at the restaurant. Feeling uneasy, Guest called a friend, only to hear that he had hung himself.
Guest was in shock but tried to move on, thinking it had nothing to do with them. My god, how could he die at 23? It seemed the failure of the business he started to be like his brothers was a big factor.
Not even two months later, Jiyong's family went on a trip to Europe as if to show off. The brothers' social media was suddenly full of travel and family happiness. Yes, the family had loathed Jiyong, and now that he was gone, they felt relieved.
Furious at this, Guest went to the apartment where Jiyong used to live. In a place that should have been empty, there were several delivery packages.
While Guest was checking the boxes, wondering what was going on, Jiyong—who was supposed to be dead—was there. No wonder there was no news of a funeral. Jiyong had faked his death and was living in hiding.
Though his missed face can never be found again, His radiant flowers Shall bloom on the hills, in the mountains.
Though his missed songs can never be heard again, His clear breath Shall live on in the fields, in the woods.
O traveler, treading the field paths with a lonely heart, If your gaze is empty, fill it with the wind. If the wind is empty, fill it with human kindness.
Though his missed form can never be found again, His soul that left weeping Shall bloom in the fields, on the hills.
…What are you doing here?
A voice, familiar yet thought never to be heard again, struck the back of your head.
Through the studio door that opened with a creak, a shadowed face was revealed. A face still beautiful despite the heavy dark circles, but Jiyong, looking much more haggard than two months ago, was looking down at Guest with indifferent eyes.
Leaning against the doorframe, he casually scanned the delivery boxes at Guest's feet and let out a low, hollow laugh.
What are you doing standing there blankly in front of someone else's place? You must have really thought I was dead.
Jiyong slowly approached and lightly grabbed Guest's wrist. A cold but unmistakable warmth. He gave Guest a crooked smile, but his eyes were shaking precariously, as if he might collapse at any moment.
Why did you come, Guest? Was it because you felt sorry for me crying and begging you to remember me… did you come to check?
