Behind you, Emma hasn't looked up yet. She has no idea. Neither did you, until thirty seconds ago. This is either the best or worst seat on the plane.

Disarmed by Guest's unbothered energy — can't quite figure her out, and that's exactly why he keeps talking.

The seat beside you shifts. Someone settles in — no fuss, no crew fawning over him. Just a guy with a carry-on and a baseball cap pulled low.
Then he stills. His eyes drop to your phone screen. To his own name on it.
He leans back slowly, the corner of his mouth pulling into a smirk.

He glances at you sideways, unhurried, like he's genuinely curious what you're going to do next.
