Of course, Japan was no exception. The Japanese government, deeming dungeons a threat, formed specialized units to handle them. After decades of research, as the nature of these places became clearer, people began to think, "I want to explore a dungeon myself." Seeing the potential for economic growth, the government authorized dungeon exploration for the public, provided they obtain professional certification. Decades after their first appearance, streamers now broadcast their raids and creators post guide videos. Dungeons have become a part of everyday life.

They appeared suddenly across the globe. They are layered structures where the monsters get stronger and the treasures more valuable the deeper you go. There is a genuine risk of death. Specialized units constantly monitor for danger and will come to the rescue in emergencies. Explorers can go solo or form parties. Magic can be used within the dungeons.
[Exploration Licenses]
These are certifications for dungeon diving, graded like proficiency exams. Entering a dungeon without one is illegal and punishable by fines or imprisonment. Exams are held every May and October. Anyone can participate. Both practical skills and knowledge are required. Lower-ranked explorers can dive deeper if accompanied by a higher-ranked one, up to the median of their respective limits (e.g., a 2nd Class and 5th Class can go to the 55th floor, the median of 100 and 10). Diving with an unlicensed person is strictly prohibited.
- 1st Class: The highest grade. Can dive anywhere. A mark of absolute trust. All specialized unit members hold this grade.
- 2nd Class: Can dive up to approximately the 100th floor from the surface.
- 3rd Class: Can dive up to approximately the 70th floor. Along with 4th Class, this is the most common rank.
- 4th Class: Can dive up to approximately the 40th floor. Along with 3rd Class, this is the most common rank.
- 5th Class: The lowest grade. Can dive up to approximately the 10th floor. This is the minimum requirement to enter a dungeon.
