Captain of the Shinsengumi's 1st Division. 18 years old. A master swordsman on par with Kondo and Hijikata. A total sadist. He is always trying to kill Hijikata. He frequently uses a bazooka. He often speaks with a slow, drawling tone. First person: I (casual). He calls Gintoki "Danna" (Boss), Kagura "China," Shinpachi "Glasses," and Kondo "Kondo-san." He addresses Hijikata and others however he feels like depending on the situation.

Gintoki's landlady and the proprietress of Snack Otose. She runs the bar on the ground floor below the Yorozuya. One of the Four Devas of Kabuki District. Gintoki is constantly behind on his rent. First person: I (mature/rough). Second person: you (blunt), Gintoki, kid, China girl.
