Warning: Contains spoilers for Vol. 20 of 'The Main Characters of the Demon World are Us!'
・The 'Call of the Sound Spirits' is a temptation that causes demons to vanish from the city. ・Hearing the Call up close causes one's soul to be snatched away or results in a temporary loss of sanity. ・Once the soul is taken, the victim becomes a hollow demon who uses the Call to lure others. ・Quelling the phenomenon is possible by performing or singing the 'Requiem' found in a notebook belonging to a fallen demon inside the mansion. The sheet music is written on the last page of the notebook. Details on the Mansion Master: —The former master of this mansion was said to have a pathological obsession with music. He forcibly invited famous musicians and townsfolk, hosting banquets night after night, yet he was never satisfied. Even after his death, his greedy soul remained in the mansion as a Sound Spirit...
Note: The former master's physical form is no longer in the mansion. The demons whose souls were snatched are not aggressive; they play music as if welcoming guests. The hollow shells generally cannot speak. They are alive and breathing, but they never regain consciousness.
A third-rate composer. (Player: Utu) Desire: "Salvation for a precious person"
Born into a family that produced many famous musicians, he received a rigorous musical education from childhood. However, he lacked talent and lived a cramped life among his brilliant parents and siblings. Perhaps due to this upbringing, he is difficult and gloomy, tending to avoid interaction with others. He currently makes a living as a writer and composer, but his income is barely enough for a single man to survive, leaving him perpetually broke. His younger brother, Hollow, is the only one in the family who appreciates his music, serving as his emotional pillar. His hobbies are collecting records and magic circuit puzzles. On his days off, he often spaces out while drinking.
He has a very dark personality and keeps conversation to a minimum. Though third-rate, he is a composer and can play instruments. His instrument is the saxophone.
An outcast. (Player: Tonton) Desire: "Recognition from peers"
A lonely young man living deep in the forest while working in forestry. Because he was bullied from childhood due to his ugly appearance, he is extremely timid. He heads to the Mansion of Sound Spirits after the surrounding demons tell him, "If you get rid of the Sound Spirits, we'll never bully you again." Since no one has ever returned from the mansion, he was essentially being disposed of, but he hasn't realized it. He noticed that he isn't bullied as long as he holds his magical chainsaw tool, so he carries it everywhere as a lucky charm (though this just makes people afraid of him, making it even harder to make friends). His hobby is stargazing. He can play the accordion a little bit.
He speaks in an extremely timid manner.
A magic beast hunter of unknown background. (Player: Zom) Desire: "Making money"
A frivolous-looking man who runs a magic beast hunting business. He possesses outstanding combat abilities, leading to rumors that he might be a former renowned mercenary, but the truth is unknown. He lacks passion for his work and handles requests sloppily, so his hunter agency's reputation isn't great. Despite this, he is a heavy spender and is always short on cash, often accepting high-reward requests recklessly, much to the dismay of his disciple, Juno. His hobbies are spending money on eating out, gambling, and succubus clubs.
(Secret Info) He is actually a former master assassin. He has buried countless demons in the darkness and stained his hands with evil, but due to various reasons, he fled his organization. He hasn't told his disciple Juno the details of his past, thinking, "If I told that serious kid everything, he'd definitely despise me."
He speaks in a fairly energetic manner.
Zolum's disciple, a rookie hunter. (Player: Juusuke) Desire: "Great fame"
A boy who admires strong demons. To change his weak self, he became Zolum's apprentice as a rookie magic beast hunter to learn combat techniques. However, because Zolum is so lazy, Juno ended up handling all the office chores. In the process, he became better at administrative work than fighting. He feels anxious about his inability to grow stronger.
He speaks normally, becoming a bit more energetic when acting as the straight man to Zolum's antics.
A lover of the bizarre. (Player: Neneri) Desire: "Contact with the supernatural"
A somewhat (?) dreamy girl who can only feel romantic attraction toward monstrous entities. She wanders from place to place looking for her ideal marriage partner. She is proactive with those she likes but shows blatant indifference toward those she doesn't, leaving her somewhat isolated from the demon community (though she doesn't mind at all).
She avoids conversation beyond the absolute minimum. Her way of speaking is not friendly. Claims it's just a hobby, but she can sing. She is personally opposed to using music to suppress the Sound Spirits.
A noblewoman and reportage writer. (Player: Soda) Desire: "Investigation of the truth"
An up-and-coming reportage writer. Using her curiosity and social nature, she dives into any dangerous location for an interview. She is capable but a bit scatterbrained, often finding herself in life-threatening situations. Currently, she works as a duo with Gyornir, a Security Devil (SD) sent by her worried parents. She is actually a daughter of a prestigious family, but she dislikes formalities.
She speaks in a fairly energetic manner. As a daughter of a noble family, she took music lessons in the past. His instrument is the flute.
Sodia's Security Devil (SD). (Player: Gyororu) Desire: "Survival of his companion"
Sodia's exclusive SD. He is a highly capable man who handles not only protection but also management and general housework. He has little interest in anything outside of his work and his master, maintaining a detached personality. He is often swung around by the free-spirited Sodia and frequently nags or lectures her, but his loyalty is incredibly strong. He respects Sodia for possessing many qualities he lacks.
He speaks in a calm manner.
A hardworking lower-class noble. Desire: "Peace in the city"
A lower-class noble serving as the lord of the city plagued by the Sound Spirits. She has a very strong sense of justice and never fails to strive to be a good lord, but this un-demon-like personality often results in others pushing troublesome tasks onto her. She realizes she is being taken advantage of but accepts it, thinking, "If there are those in need..."
She speaks in a calm but gentle manner. Carries a violin and is capable of performing.
