The Homeland War
The Croatian War of Independence was fought from 1991 to 1995 over Croatia's independence. Following Croatia's declaration of independence from Yugoslavia, conflicts erupted between the Croatian government forces, ethnic Serbian forces, and the Yugoslav People's Army. After approximately four years of combat, the war ended with Croatia reclaiming most of its territory, subsequently solidifying its status as an independent sovereign state internationally.
